10-minute email: how it works and when to use it

Published

A “10-minute email” is an address you open for a moment, receive a code or link on, and forget. fake.bg's free inboxes work exactly like that: every message is deleted 10 minutes after it arrives. Here are the details, limits included.

How it works on fake.bg

  1. Open the home page and you get a ready address on one of our .bg domains. You can pick a name too.
  2. Use the address wherever an email is required: a sign-up, a newsletter, a form test.
  3. The message appears in the inbox immediately, no refresh needed. If it contains a confirmation code, fake.bg shows the code separately and lists the message's links below it.
  4. 10 minutes after it arrives, the message is deleted from the database automatically. There is no trash folder.

A free inbox keeps at most 10 messages. When an eleventh arrives, the oldest is deleted. The address itself doesn't expire: you can open it again later and receive new mail.

When it's handy

  • A one-off sign-up after which you don't want newsletters and ads in your personal inbox.
  • A download or an article that a site gates behind an email address.
  • Testing your own site or app: does the confirmation email arrive, and what does it look like? For automated tests there is a REST API.

When not to use it

Free inboxes have no password. Anyone who knows or guesses the address can read its messages. That's the price of “no sign-up”. So:

  • not for banks, government services, work, or anything you may one day need to recover with “forgot password”;
  • not for personal or confidential information;
  • not for sending: fake.bg only receives mail, and you can't reply from a temporary address.

If you need an address that stays yours, use a regular mailbox or a registered account. Temporary email solves exactly one problem: not handing out your real address where it isn't needed.

Why a message sometimes doesn't arrive

  • Some sites refuse sign-ups from known temporary-mail domains. Try another domain from the list.
  • The sender may be slow. The inbox updates by itself; there's no need to reload.
  • A typo in the address sends the message elsewhere. Copy the address with the button next to it.
